Economic factors

The city of Davao City and the area around the Gulf of Davao have earned the nickname Silicon Gulf in the IT sector , as in the recent past many companies in this sector have emerged or have settled in the area along the Gulf.

The waters of the Gulf are rich in fish, corals and seafood. In addition to milk fish , the Gulf of Davao offers abundant fishing grounds and occurrences of tuna , shrimp and crabs . On the coast there are numerous sandy beaches, coral reefs , but also sunken shipwrecks from the Second World War.

It is therefore of increasing importance for both fishing and diving and bathing tourism. Since its waters are crossed by dolphins as well as whales , whale sighting tours are a popular attraction.
