American Institute For Foreign Study (AIFS) is an educational travel company headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, USA. It has offices in Germany, Australia, England and Poland and a branch in Vienna, Austria. The German headquarters are in Bonn. There are also additional offices in Berlin (as of 2020)

AIFS Germany is a founding member of IAPA (International Au Pair Association), member of DFH (Deutscher Fachverband High School eV), FDSV (Association of German Language Travel Organizers eV), BundesForum Kinder- und Jugendreisen eV and American Chamber of Commerce . In addition, AIFS is the holder of the RAL seal of approval Au-Pair outgoing of the Gütegemeinschaft Au Pair eV

history

Since it was founded in 1964 by Sir Cyril Taylor, more than 1.5 million young people have participated in the programs worldwide.

In 1985 AIFS was the first provider to start the Au Pair program in the USA. It is the first US government approved au pair program.

AIFS has been represented as a German company with its headquarters in Bonn since 1994.
