The American Philatelic Society (APS) is the largest philatelic association in the world. The association has almost 44,000 members from 110 countries (as of 2007).

The association was founded on September 14, 1886 in New York City . Initially the association was called the "American Philatelic Association" and in 1897 it was renamed to the current association name at short notice and from 1908 to the current name. In 1940 the club had 4,000 members, including President Roosevelt . The headquarters of the APS is today in Bellefonte , Pennsylvania .
