The Americas Tower , also known by the name of its address at 1177 Avenue of the Americas , is a 211 meter high skyscraper in New York City , United States. The 50-story office building is located on 45th Street in Manhattan .
Construction of the skyscraper began in December 1989 and was completed in February 1992. In 1993 the building was officially opened.
The facade of the building is made of granite and combines stylistic elements of postmodern and art deco . In 2002 the building was sold to Silverstein Properties for $ 500 million .
