Ami Suzuki in 2008.

Ami Suzuki ( Japanese 鈴木 亜 美 , Suzuki Ami ; born February 9, 1982 in Zama ) is a J-Pop singer, songwriter, dancer and actress. After signing with Sony Music Entertainment Japan , she became one of the most successful singers in the late 1990s. After a legal battle in 2000, she increasingly lost success and only got another record deal with Avex Trax in 2005 . So far she has sold over 9,000,000 records in Japan alone, but she is no longer one of the most popular singers in Japan.
