BBC Amicale ( Basketball Club Amicale ) is a Luxembourgish basketball club from Steinsel . The club plays in the Total League.

history

The association was founded in 1947. It was the first Luxembourg club with its own clubhouse and sports hall, both of which were moved into in 1958. These good structural prerequisites were initially not reflected in the athletic performance. It was not until the early 1970s that the Amicale established themselves as the top team in Luxembourg's highest basketball league and won the championship in 1971 and 1973. As a result, one fought against the T71 Dudelange for national supremacy and was initially defeated in the mid-1970s. The 1977/78 season, however, ended the Amicale again as champions, also in 1980, 1981, 2016, 2017 and 2018. With eight championships won, BBC Amicale is the fifth most successful team in Luxembourg. The club also won the Luxembourg Cup seven times between 1971 and 2018.

After having only been able to celebrate championships in the youth field in the recent past, the final series for the men's championship was reached again in 2013 for the first time in thirteen years, in which they competed against defending champion T71 Dudelange. Well-known players who also played in the German basketball league were the Estonian national player Margus Metstak and the Czech national player Kamil Novák . At the 2013 championship final, the US-American Reggie Golson and the Luxembourg national player Samy Picard belonged to the squad. In 2016 they became Luxembourg champions again after 35 years.

The women's team won the championship for the first time in the club's history in 1970.
