Steinsel ( Luxembourgish Steesel ) is a municipality in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and belongs to the canton of Luxembourg .

history
The place Steinsel has a Roman past. Some temples were found there. The place got its name from the stone constructions, first Petrisala, Skinzel and Steinsala, up to today's Steinsel. The most famous temple complex is the so-called "Roellent" and a residential complex with a thermal bath , which was found on today's church square. With Christianization , Steinsel became an important parish of the Roman Catholic Church over time . Today's church in the Gothic style was built. 1854 After the Second World War, Steinsel became an important production and sales location for strawberries, potatoes and broad beans.
Sports
The Amicale basketball club from Steinsel is one of the most successful clubs in Luxembourg basketball in 2010. In Luxembourg football, Steinsel is represented by FC Alisontia Steinsel .
