Aminta H. Breaux (born February 11, 1959 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American psychologist and university professor . She is the first female president of Bowie State University .

life and work

Breaux studied psychology at Temple University and received a bachelor's degree in 1980 . It acquired in 1986 at the University of Pennsylvania to the Master of Science degree in psychological services in education. She received her PhD in Psychology from Temple University in 2004. From 1990 to 1995 she was director in the Career Services Center and until 1998 in the Career Management Center. She then worked at Drexel University until 2000, when she was Dean of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia until 2008 . From 2008 to 2014, she was Vice President, Student Affairs at Millersville University . In 2014, she became the vice president of development at Millersville University. In July 2017, 153 years after its inception, she became the first woman to be named President of Bowie State University.

She is a graduate of the Harvard Institute for Executive Management and the Millennium Leadership Institute of the American Association for State Colleges and Universities. She is married to a former partner in the Drinker Biddle & Reath law firm and has three daughters.
