Ammonius is a small impact crater on the moon , 9 km in diameter. It is bowl-shaped and its edge rises slightly above the surroundings. It lies in the crater floor of the 150 km Ptolemaeus whale plain , about 30 km northeast of the center of this large crater.
Before the renaming by the IAU in 1976 he was appointed as Ptolemy A designated.
In the pretty glossy Wall level when sun is low (see Terminator some almost disappeared due to erosion) ghost craters can be seen, including a 15 km large, directly situated north of Ammonius, who as Ptolemy B is called.
