Track book

Track books (in the original French Signe de Piste) are successful adventure books of different series that since 1937, originally in Alsatia publishing Colmar - Paris appeared. A total of almost 500 titles have been published so far, most of which deal with the experiences and journeys of Bundestag scouts .

In the original series alone, 201 different books appeared up to 1970, some of which were later reprinted several times. This was followed by 78 titles in the Safari Signe de Piste series (until 1974), 146 titles under Le Nouveau Signe de Piste (until 1990), 17 titles in the Proost edition (until 1992), 35 titles in the Fleurus edition, and other minor series like Signe de Piste junior. Some editions have been translated into German, Portuguese and Turkish, among others.

Some books reached millions of copies, including the Prince Erik series and The Gang of Ayacks.

Authors

There are a total of almost 200 authors, the most famous works are by Serge Dalens, Jean-Louis Foncine and Guy de Larigaudie. Well-known authors of German track books are Herbert Leger , Arno Klönne , Otto Lohmüller and Karlhermann Bergner .

The novels “Escape” and “The Secret of the White Raven” were translated by Wolfgang Ecke and published as French books.

Several books have been published under pseudonyms . For example, Jean-Louis Foncine and Serge Dalens used the name Mik Fondal together; Serge Dalens himself is the pseudonym of Yves de Verdilhac, Jean-Louis Foncine that of Pierre Lamoureux.

Illustrator

Most of the illustrations and cover pictures are by Pierre Joubert (1910–2002). Other draftsmen were Michel Gourlier, Walter Rieck , Pierre Forget, Emmanuel Beaudesson and others.

German publications

German translations were first published in 1948 by Alsatia Verlag Colmar, and from 1959 also in the Alsatia Freiburg branch. Later, individual titles were also published by other publishers, such as Arena or Loewe. Since 1982, partly new editions, have been published by Deutscher Spurbuchverlag Baunach , currently 21 titles (as of 2008).

Other media

Several comics were published (series of magazines), some of which were also translated into Dutch (Collectie Code series), as well as several radio plays and films.
