Among Ripples is a simulation - video game of Eat Sleep Create and was published January 15, 2015. The game's development began as a student project. Due to the size of the game, the developers decided to market it and founded the independent studio Eat Create Sleep for this purpose.

Gameplay

The play environment is a pond in an untouched forest. This pond is empty at the start of the game, but can be filled by the player with various creatures that also occur in the wild. The aim of the simulation is to create a permanent habitat for the pond inhabitants. In addition to the population of the respective species , the player must also ensure that the oxygen and pollutant content of the water and the algae concentration are checked. The weather conditions and the seasons also change as the game progresses. Based on a real biotope , the simulation has no end.

Pawns

The game includes six different characters:

  • The whitefish is the smallest fish in the simulation and represents the food source for the larger fish.
  • The perch is modeled on the river perch and, along with the pike, is the source of food for the otter. The perch is also the largest fish in the game, together with the pike. Depending on its size, the perch can either be eaten by the pike or eat it in turn.
  • In addition to the perch, the pike is a food source for the otter.
  • The crayfish are based on the noble crayfish and feed on the algae of the pond floor as well as on mussels and carcasses of dead fish. The otters prefer to eat the crabs.
  • Mussels are an important part of the ecosystem as they are the only ones able to reduce the pollutants in the water and thus enable all other living things to live in the water. In the cycle, however, the mussels are eaten by both the crayfish and the otter.
  • The otter, modeled on the otter , can only be created once within the game and feeds on all other living beings in the pond. If all food sources for the otter are exhausted, it withdraws from the pond and leaves the water. If this happens, a new otter can be placed in the pond.
