Amos Yaskil

Amos Yaskil (* 1935 in Haifa ) is an Israeli painter and graphic artist . His motifs particularly depict landscapes of Galilee and Israel. He is also known as a planner of historical museums.

Life

Yaskil is the son of a German mother (Miriam Yaskil) and a Polish father (Abraham Yaskil). The autodidact has lived in Tiberias since 1960 .

The young Amos Yaskil was discovered as a child as a painter by the Austrian writer Arnold Zweig and was praised in a newspaper article in the English newspaper New Life. The artist has lived in Tiberias, Galilee since 1960 and has achieved international recognition with exhibitions in museums and galleries around the world. Between 1982 and 1996 he built and designed 12 historical museums. So far there have been around 100 solo exhibitions of his works - from 1990 mainly in Germany, Switzerland, France, Belgium and Holland. His motifs are particularly landscapes of Galilee and Israel, whereas he also explores painting from the 16th and 17th centuries. In 1992 a retrospective book of his works was published in Germany in four languages: German, English, French and Hebrew.
