The former tree garden, the western end of the palace gardens of Philippsruhe Palace , was converted into the so-called amphitheater Hanau in the course of the State Garden Show 2002 in Hanau . The Brothers Grimm Festival is held there every year from the beginning of May to the end of July . Then the stage will be rebuilt and many other cultural events will follow until the end of September, from classics of the opera scene to celebrated cabaret artists to international stars.

Venue

Around the so-called “golden staircase”, a semicircular wall was built up as a grandstand in 2000 . The staircase, which rises in steps, has space for 1,356 seats or 2,700 standing people. The stage area is built over a fountain in front of the old sandstone staircase (golden staircase), which can be more or less included in the backdrop. Where the lawn used to be mowed regularly, the steps of the grandstand got a new pavement in 2008. The scene area and the access area were also redesigned.

The venue can be completely covered with a tent so that spectators and actors are not directly exposed to the heat and weather. It is open on the sides, so the original flair of an open-air event is not lost. In the basic setup, the scene area is 10 mx 12 m and can be expanded for the festival as required. Behind it you have a clear view of the park and the castle.
