history
In August 1994, the Hanau municipal authorities decided to apply for the state horticultural show. A feasibility study was submitted in December 1994 and in March 1995 the city was awarded the contract by the state. In December 1996, the city council passed a unanimous decision on the state horticultural show.
To implement the project, the Landesgartenschau GmbH was founded in 1998 and an urban planning competition was carried out. Work began in December 1998 and the framework plan was approved in May 1999.
The total budget of the event was 13,472,540 euros. About 800,000 visitors were counted.
