Ampliatus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ampliatus (also: Amplias ) is venerated in the Orthodox Church as one of the Seventy disciples . According to tradition, Ampliatus was a collaborator of the apostle Andrew , who installed him as bishop in Diospolis in Palestine (today's Lod ) . Ampliatus is said to have died a martyr's death on the Balkan Peninsula together with Urbanus and Narcissus . Ampliatus is also venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church ; his feast day is October 31st .

It has not been proven that he is identical with the urban Roman Christian Ampliatos , to whom Paul sends Rom 16.8  ZB greetings.
