Amt Freienohl

The new office of Freienohl was formed in 1843 from the older office of Freienohl and parts of the dissolved office of Hellefeld. It existed until its dissolution in 1975.

history

In 1843, the Freienohl office was merged with parts of the dissolved Hellefeld office. In 1952 the municipality of Westenfeld was added from the Sundern office . Before that it consisted of the communities Altenhellefeld, Breitenbruch, Freienohl, Grevenstein, Hellefeld, Herblinghausen, Linnepe, Meinkenbracht, Oeventrop, Rumbeck, Uentrop and Visbeck.

In 1961, the Amt of Freienohl had 13,057 inhabitants with a size of 114.46 square kilometers.

In 1975 the office belonging to the Arnsberg district was dissolved and divided between the cities of Arnsberg, Sundern and Meschede.
