Official construction company

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the Federal Republic of Germany in the 1950s to 1990s, an official construction company was understood to mean a company that was a supplier to state-owned companies such as the Deutsche Bundespost or the Deutsche Bundesbahn . Market economy principles were only valid to a limited extent, because German companies were to be preferred for procurement in order to secure jobs in Germany. In addition, investments in research and development should be made in Germany.

However, whether these goals were achieved is a matter of dispute: there was the opinion that the oligopoly had decoupled the companies from the market, which resulted in inefficient structures that ultimately  led to a loss of connection on the world market - especially in communications technology .

The official building companies included Siemens , Standard Elektrik Lorenz (SEL), Telefonbau and Normalzeit as well as DeTeWe .
