Amy Sara Broadhurst (* 17th March 1997 in Dundalk , Ireland ) is an Irish boxer in the Light Welterweight .

Boxing career

The southpaw began boxing in 2004 and was trained by her father Tony Broadhurst at the Dundalk boxing club, later she moved to the English boxing club Islington . Her brothers Paul and Stephen are also amateur boxers. Amy Broadhurst is the Irish record holder with 17 national championship titles and also became the English adult championship for the first time in 2018.

She won the European Junior Championships 2012 in Poland , the 2013 EU Junior Championships in Hungary , the 2015 European Youth Championships in Hungary, as well as the U22 European Championships 2018 in Romania and 2019 in Russia . In addition, she was runner-up at the 2014 European Youth Championship in Italy .

Her first major adult competitions were the 2018 World Championships in India . There she was able to reach the quarterfinals against Jekaterina Dynnik and Ani Hovsepyan, where she was eliminated after a controversial score against Simranjit Kaur. At the European Championships in Spain in 2019, she won a bronze medal in the lightweight after she was eliminated in the semifinals against Mira Potkonen . Against this she was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the 2019 World Cup in Russia.
