An Qi ( Chinese 安琦 ; born June 21, 1981 in Dalian ) is a former Chinese soccer player .
Life
An, who played in the position of goalkeeper , was initially active in the Chinese Super League at Dalian Shide . In 2000, 2001 and 2002 he won the Chinese championship with his team. In 2006 he moved to league rivals Xiamen Lanshi . In 2008, he joined Changchun Yatai . However, he was rarely used there and ended his career in 2010.
An was considered one of the most emerging talents in Chinese football. He was at the junior soccer world championship 2001 in the goal of the Chinese selection. Although he only conceded one goal, the team retired as third in the group stage. Because of his good performance at the tournament, he was nominated by Bora Milutinović for the 2002 World Cup . Here he was only the third goalkeeper behind Jiang Jin and Ou Chuliang and was therefore not used. Due to a period of weakness following the tournament, he lost his place in the squad.
