Anagyros (mythology)
Anagyros ( ancient Greek Ἀνάγυρος ) is in Greek mythology the eponymous hero of Demos Anagyros in the Attic phyle Erechtheis .
Zenobios and the Suda report that there was a shrine to the hero in a grove on the Demos Anagyros . When an old man fell the grove, Anagyros, as Anagyrasios daimon ( Ἀναγυράσιος δαίμον , "spirit of Anagyros") caused the man's lover to fall in love with his son. Since the son is unwilling to see her, she accuses him of seducing her. The man then blinds his son and locks him in his house. Because of what he did, the man finally hanged himself, and his lover threw himself into a well.
