Anas Urbaningrum (born July 15, 1969 in Srengat / Blitar / Jawa Timur ) is an Indonesian politician. He was the leader of his country's Democratic Party . He is also the parliamentary leader of his party in the House of Representatives . When he was elected at the age of 40, he was one of the youngest party leaders in Asia. He resigned in February 2013 when he was accused by the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) of being involved in an affair over the construction of a sports center in West Java.

Urbaningrum graduated in 1992 the degree program of Political Science at the University of Airlangga , made in 2000 his Masters at the University of Indonesia and published his thesis under the title "Democratic Islam: The Thoughts of Nurcholish Madjid" (Republika, 2000). He is currently completing his studies at Gadjah Mada University .
