The Gadjah Mada University ( Bahasa Indonesia : Universitas Gadjah Mada, short: UGM ) in Yogyakarta is with 55,000 students the largest university in Indonesia by student numbers and the oldest in the country, founded on December 19, 1949. It is named after Majapahit's prime minister Gajah Mada .
