Marçal Avelino Ximenes is an East Timorese university professor, politician and diplomat.

Career

Ximenes studied at the Technical University of Lisbon and from 1986 to 1991 at the Gadjah Mada University . In independent East Timor, he taught at the Faculty of Agriculture of the Universidade Nasionál Timór Lorosa'e (UNTL). In addition, he wrote several publications on the subject of agriculture.

In the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2012 , Ximenes took 38th place on the CNRT's electoral list , but did not enter parliament . For this he was appointed to the East Timorese cabinet and sworn in as Vice Minister for Universities and Science on August 8, 2012 . With the government reshuffle on February 16, 2015, he left the government.

On December 15, 2016, Ximenes was appointed East Timorese ambassador to Brunei .
