Paulo Assis Belo

Paulo de Assis Belo , fighting name Funu Mata , is a politician from East Timor . He is a member of the Partido Democrático (PD) .

In May 2000, Belo was the representative of the Conselho Nacional de Resistência Timorense (CNRT), which signed the twinning between Baucau and the Portuguese Seixal .

From 2001 to 2007 Belo was a member of the National Parliament of East Timor . On May 12, 2005 he was sworn in as a member of the National Security Council. In the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2007 , he was number 9 on the party list. But since Belo was appointed Vice Minister for Education and sworn in on August 8, 2007, he had to give up his seat in parliament. In the 2012 parliamentary elections , Belo was no longer on the PD's electoral list. His term of office as Vice Minister ended when the new government took office on August 8, 2012.

Belo is the holder of the Ordem Nicolau Lobato .
