Anatol Ljabedska
Anatol Ljabedska , also Ljabedzka ( Belarusian Анатоль Лябедзька ; born June 27, 1961 in Minskaya Woblasz , USSR; today Belarus ) is a Belarusian politician and chairman of the United Citizens' Party of Belarus .
Life
Ljabedska has been one of the most resolute critics of Belarusian President Aljaksandr Lukashenka since the 1990s . He was arrested several times for participating in demonstrations against the ruling regime.
In May 2010, the President of the European Parliament , Jerzy Buzek , demonstratively met with Anatol Ljabedska to show the EU's support for the opposition parties in Belarus. Ljabedska originally wanted to run for the 2015 presidential election in Belarus , but could not collect enough signatures.
