Anatoli Wassiljewitsch Akentjew ( Russian Анатолий Васильевич Акентьев ; born December 23, 1939 in Kaluga ) is a former Soviet cross-country skier .

Career

Akentjew, who started for CSKA Moscow, made his first international appearance at the Svenska Skidspelen in 1963 in Falun . There he won the juniors over 15 km. At the World Championships in Oslo in 1966 , he was fifth over 30 km and with the relay. The following year he won over 15 km at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival . At the 1968 Winter Olympics in GrenobleHe took 20th place over 50 km, 16th place over 15 km and tenth place over 30 km. He also achieved fourth place there with the relay. In 1971 he came in second place with the relay at the Svenska Skidspelen. At the Soviet championships Akentjew won three times with the relay (1965, 1966, 1968), twice over 15 km (1965, 1967) and once over 30 km (1966). After his career as a cross-country skier, he coached the Soviet and Russian national cross-country skiing teams. In 1979 he became Vice President and 2006 Honorary Vice President of the FIS . From 1996 to 2004 he was president of the cross-country skiing association in Russia.
