Anatoly Viktorovich Sychev

Anatoli Wiktorowitsch Sytschow ( Russian Анатолий Викторович Сычёв ; * April 10, 1932 - January 20, 2018 ) was a Russian correspondence chess player and "Senior International Correspondence Chess Master" (SIM).

Correspondence chess

In 1989 he won the finals of the 27th European Correspondence Chess Championship, which had started six years earlier.

In 1987 Sychev took part in the 3/4 final tournament of the 14th ICCF World Chess Championship. He finished 4th in his group and thus acquired a final qualification. This tournament only ended after more than nine years in December 1996.

In 1988 he appeared on the 3rd board of the Russian team in the preliminary round of the 4th European Team Championship. Tied on points with the winner, he reached 2nd place.

In 1991, Sychov was awarded the title of "International Correspondence Chess Master" (IM) at the ICCF Congress.

In the finals of the 15th ICCF World Chess Championship held from 1996 to 2002 , he finished 10th out of 17 participants.

In 2001 he was awarded the title of "Senior International Correspondence Chess Master" (SIM), which is somewhere between international master and grandmaster .
