The Anchorage Bay ( English for anchor bay ) is a small bay on the north coast of South Georgia . It is located 3 km south of Cape Best on the west side of Fortuna Bay .
It was mapped between 1929 and 1930 by scientists from the British Discovery Investigations . This is what they named because it offers a protected anchorage.
