Kawann Short Arcell (* 2 February 1989 in East Chicago , Indiana ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the defensive tackles . He plays for the Carolina Panthers in the National Football League (NFL).

Career

college

Short played college football for the Boilermakers at Purdue University from 2008 to 2012 . In 2009 he played all 12 games as a starter and scored 48 tackles and 2 interceptions . He was named Freshman All American by CollegeFootballNews.com and a big ten all-freshman team for The Sporting News . In the 2010 season he finished fourth in the Big Ten with 6 sacks and 12.5 tackles with loss of space. He was also the best of his team with 8 blocked passes and 41 tackles. In the 2013 season he was elected captain by his teammates and started all 13 games. It had a career high with 54 tackles, 17 loss of space tackles, and 6.5 sacks. He was elected to the First-Team All-Big-Ten in 2011 and 2012.

NFL

In the 2013 NFL Draft , he was selected in the second round as the 44th player by the Carolina Panthers. In his first season, Short played all 16 games. He produced 30 tackles, 1 forced fumble and 1.5 sacks and had the second most quarterback pressures on his team at 21. He was voted into the all-rookie team by PFF, ESPN and SB Nation.

With the Panthers he won the NFC Championship Game in the 2015 season . In Super Bowl 50 then they lost to the Denver Broncos .
