The Ancistrus cirrhosus is a freshwater ornamental fish from the genus of the aerial armor catfish .

features

It can reach a length of up to 12 cm. This species is drawn similarly to the blue catfish . The basic color can take on different shades between dark brown, dark blue and black gray. Small white or yellowish dots are scattered all over the body. The belly is gray with a pink tinge. The dark fins show several rows of dark spots. There is a deep black spot in the base of the anterior dorsal fin. Males can have antler-like antennae on their heads, females at most stubby appendages.

distribution

The Ancistrus cirrhosus is distributed over large parts of Argentina and Paraguay and is common, for example, in the Rio Paraná and around Buenos Aires . It inhabits slightly acidic to neutral and soft fresh waters, both rivers and calm lakes.
