The Andahua-Orcopampa volcanic field in the Peruvian Andahua Valley, 20 kilometers east-northeast of the Coropuna volcano , has an area of 3600 square kilometers. The local population calls it the "Valley of the Volcanoes".
The Trachyandesite cinder cones and the lava flows, which also destroyed individual buildings, seem to be only a few hundred years old. The area was reportedly active during the Incan times. The reports of renewed activity in 1913, however, have not yet been confirmed. Lava flows have dammed the Rio Andagua several times and a small lake remained. By means of radiocarbon dating , eruptions were found in the years 2110 BC. BC ± 50 years, 940 BC Dated ± 100 years and 1490 ± 40 years (in the Chilcayoc Grande area).
