Andalé Mono (mostly spelled without an accent for technical reasons) is a fixed-width typeface designed by Steve Matteson as a command line typeface for the Taligent project of Apple and IBM and marketed by the Monotype type foundry .
distribution
After Taligent had failed, the Andalé Mono was initially offered as an extension for Internet Explorer 4.0 (released in 1997), and later supplied with versions 5 and 6. Microsoft initially used the replacement name Monotype.com for the font, but then reverted to the original name. The font is part of the free Core fonts for the Web font suite and has become very popular.
In modern versions of Windows, the font is no longer included, but can still be downloaded.
Andalé Mono is a system font in all Apple operating systems .
