Andante & Finale op.79
The work by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky , published as Andante & Finale op. 79 , is the second and third movements of the Piano Concerto No. 3 in E flat major . The first movement appeared as Allegro Brillante op.75 .
Tchaikovsky designed the concert in 1893 from the drafts of a discarded symphony in E flat major (1892) parallel to work on the sixth symphony, the Pathétique .
The entire concert is available in the form of sketches and a fair copy for two pianos from the composer (piano 1 = solo; piano 2 = orchestral part with notes on the instrumentation). Tchaikovsky was only able to orchestrate the first movement of the concerto. The instrumentation of Andante and Finale was done by Sergej Taneyev .
