André Øvredal (born May 6, 1973 in Norway ) is a multi-award-winning Norwegian film director , screenwriter and film producer who became internationally known for films such as Trollhunter , The Autopsy of Jane Doe and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark .

life and career

André Øvredal, born in Norway in 1973, made his first own film production in 2000 with the mystery drama Future Murder . In addition to directing and scripting, he also co-produced the film. In 2010 he then directed the horror film Trollhunter with the cast Otto Jespersen, Glenn Erland Tosterud and Johanna Mørck. In 2016, the mystery thriller The Autopsy of Jane Doe with Brian Cox , Emile Hirsch and Ophelia Lovibond in the leading roles followed. In 2019 he shot another production in the horror genre with Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark . He cast the main roles in the film mostly with talented young actors such as Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza , Gabriel Rush and Austin Abrams . The film, produced by Guillermo del Toro , re-grossed over $ 100 million on an estimated $ 25 million worldwide box office. A sequel to the film is already being planned.
