André Bauer (born October 7, 1963 in Leipzig ; † August 7, 1981 at Sorge ) was a fatality on the inner-German border .

Life

On the morning of August 7, 1981, the 17-year-old transport helper André Bauer, who lives in Leipzig, tried to flee the GDR with two other young people . They triggered a self- firing system that injured André Bauer's cerebral artery. He died while he was being transported from the border area.

Proceedings against the platoon leader of the 25th Pioneer Brigade, who had installed the self-firing systems in this area, ended in 2000 with an acquittal by the Stendal Regional Court , as he had not expected the mere installation of the system to result in injuries or killing of refugees with this also did not agree.
