André Bertrand

André Bertrand (born June 1, 1931 in Québec ; † June 3, 2019 there ) was a Canadian ski racer . He was considered one of the strongest Canadian drivers in the years after the Second World War.

Bertrand celebrated the greatest successes of his career as a student at the Université Laval in 1952 and 1956 when he qualified twice for the Canadian Olympic team. There he had to admit defeat to the strong competition from Europe. At the Olympic Games in Oslo in 1952 , he finished 25th in slalom, 36th in giant slalom and 41st in downhill. Four years later at the Winter Games in Cortina d'Ampezzo , he finished 25th in slalom, 39th in giant slalom and 50th in downhill. In the course of his career, Bertrand won three Canadian championship titles (downhill 1950 and 1954, combination 1954).

Bertrand was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the Canadian Ski Museum in 1989 .
