André Castanet was a French long distance runner in the early 20th century .

At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1900 , a team race over 5000 m took place, in which the British athletics association Amateur Athletic Association (AAA) competed against a selection of the French athletics clubs Racing Club de France and SA Montrouge . There were five runners on each side; was scored according to the added place numbers. Henri Deloge and Jean Chastanié from Racing Club de France and Gaston Ragueneau from SA Montrouge were able to keep up for a long time with the two best Britons Charles Bennett and John Rimmer , who ultimately prevailed (Bennett even set a world record with 15: 20.0 min) , while the other two runners from SA Montrouge (Castanet and Albert Champoudry ) even lost touch with the two British runners Sidney Robinson and Alfred Tysoe and left only the Australian sprinter Stan Rowley , who completed the British team, behind. Castanet was eighth and Champoudry ninth, and so the British team won with 26 points over the French team with 29 points.

This was Castanet's only international deployment.
