André Kraan

André Kraan (born August 22, 1927 , † November 23, 2012 ) was a Dutch football and baseball player and sports official of the AFC Ajax in Amsterdam .

Kraan played in the team at the Mercator School in Amsterdam West and joined AFC Ajax at the age of 13. He played in various youth teams of the club, among others together with Rinus Michels and Cor van der Hart . However, due to his military service in the Dutch East Indies , he was unable to advance to the first team. After his time as a soldier, he played again for Ajax, but in the second team; once he was appointed to the senior squad, but was never used. In addition to his passion for football, he was also active in the Ajax baseball team and won the Dutch championship with it in 1948.

After his active time as a player, which he ended in 1958, he worked in various functions for the club from 1961, including being responsible for the professionals and amateurs in the football department. In 1989 he was temporarily deputy chairman of the AFC Ajax. The association made him an honorary member; In 2010 he was honored for 70 years of membership.

Kraan says he lived for the club: “One person loves carrier pigeons, the other beautiful cars or women. I love Ajax; it is my lust and my life. "
