André Krigar (* 1952 in Berlin ) is a German painter .

biography

André Krigar was born in 1952 as the son of the documentary filmmaker Kurt Krigar . From 1972 to 1979 he studied painting at the Berlin University of the Arts . Krigar has been a member of the Northern German Realists ' group of artists since 1992 . He took part in various painting activities of the group, for example on board the Gorch Fock , at Hamburg Airport , in the Federal Council or in the trenches of the First World War at Hartmannsweiler Kopf .

Exhibitions of his works, some in joint exhibitions with other artists in the group, have taken place regularly since 1994, mainly in galleries and public institutions in Berlin and various northern German cities, but also in southern Germany, Italy, Finland, Sweden, France, the Netherlands and Canada . In 2008 Krigar won the Rembrandt Painting Award in Noordwijk, the Netherlands . In 2013, as a member of the North German Realists, he received the Schleswig-Holstein Business Art Prize.

André Krigar's pictures often take up the turbulent city life and in many cases are also created using the plein air process, on site instead of in the studio.

Krigar's pictures have appeared in print in several publications. In 2004 a volume with his pictures and poems by Günter Kunert was created .
