André Thieme (historian)

André Thieme (* 1969 ) is a German historian .

Life

Thieme studied Saxon regional history, modern history and German at the Technical University of Dresden . With a doctoral thesis on the Burgraves of Altenburg , he was awarded Dr. phil. PhD. At the Institute for Saxon History and Folklore , where he had been employed since 1997, he was in charge of the editing project on the correspondence of Duchess Elisabeth von Rochlitz until 2010 . He was a lecturer at the TU Dresden and has been head of the museums department at the State Palaces, Castles and Gardens of Saxony since 2010 . In 2012 he was elected deputy chairman of the historical commission at the Saxon Academy of Sciences in Leipzig .
