Andrés Godoy ( San Antonio , Provincia de San Antonio ; born November 10, 1953 ) is a Chilean musician and record producer for Chilean rock bands.

biography

Andrés Godoy began playing the guitar when he was 11 and formed a band at his school called Los Halcones when he was 13. He lost his right arm in an accident at the age of 14. Despite the severe trauma that went with it, a short time later he continued his musical career as a guitarist. For this he developed his own technique, called tatap , in which he strikes the strings powerfully, plucks with his nails and provides the stop with his little finger. This enables him to play chords and melodies as well as to create a rhythm, all with just one hand.

In 1978 he founded Andrés y Ernesto, later renamed Andrés, Ernesto y Alejaica when they teamed up with the band Alejaica . The group played rock with folkloric traits but broke up when Andrés moved to Buenos Aires in 1984 . There he worked with artists such as Piero de Benedictis , Juan Carlos Baglietto and Fabiana Cantilo . In 1985 his first solo album was released, entitled No estamos solos . When he returned to Chile, he played with El Grifo y Andrés Godoy y La Divina Paciencia (1990), with whom he recorded the album Respiro (1991). His younger solo career begins with the 2007 album La risa o el send .

He founded and directed the program "Las escuelas del Rock" (1995-2005) and produced various Chilean rock bands, including Los Peores de Chile , Sinergia, Los Bandoleros and Keko Yoma . He has given countless concerts and guitar workshops all over Chile.

In 2012 he toured Europe, performing at 38 concerts and workshops in Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Austria and Belgium, among others.
