Andrés Holguín

Andrés Holguín (* 1918 in Bogotá ; † June 21, 1989 ibid) was a Colombian poet, translator and literary critic.

Life

The grandson of President Carlos Holguín Mallarino attended the Escuela Nacional de Comercio until 1935 and trained as a lawyer at the Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora del Rosario until 1942 . He held various government offices and was a diplomat in Paris, Rome and Caracas.

From the age of sixteen he began to publish and published more than twenty books, including volumes of poetry, philosophical and literary works. He founded El Muro Blanco and later El Arké , two organizations dedicated to promoting culture in Colombia. He also taught at the Universidad de los Andes and the Universidad de Bogotá , where he headed the humanities faculty and held a chair in literature and philosophy and published the magazine Razón y Fábula .

For the column Temas inesperados , which he published for years in the newspaper El Tiempo , he received the Premio Nacional de Periodismo .
