Andrés Lorente
Andrés Lorente (born April 15, 1624 in Anchuelo near Toledo ; † 1703 ) was a Spanish music theorist , organist and composer .
Lorente studied at the University of Alcalá . He was commissioner of the Santo officio of the Inquisition , pastor of Alcalá de Henares and from 1653 until his death organist of the Church of San Justo . In 1672 he published the work El Porque de la Musica, en que se contiene los quatro artes de ella, canto llano, canto del organo, contrapunto y composicion ... It is an encyclopedic overview of contemporary music theory and presents, illustrated with numerous of his own Composition examples represent the teaching of singing and counterpoint as well as the theory of harmony.
