Andrea De Carlo (born December 11, 1952 in Milan ) is an Italian writer .

Life

Andrea De Carlo lived for a long time in the USA and Australia after studying literature. His first great success was the 1981 novel Creamtrain ( Treno di panna ). In Italy he quickly became a bestselling author . De Carlo worked as a photographer and rock musician, later as assistant to Federico Fellini , before becoming a writer. He has written numerous novels that have sold more than five million copies worldwide and have been translated into twenty-one languages. De Carlo is actively involved in the Greenpeace campaign “Scrittori per le foreste” (writers for the tropical forests). He lives in Rome , Milan and in the countryside near Urbino .

De Carlo was also active as a painter and filmmaker; his 1988 self-directed Treno di panna based on his own script based on his novel. In 1983 he had worked as an assistant director for Federico Fellini .
