Andrea Geier

Andrea Geier (* 1972 ) is a German literary scholar and professor at the University of Trier .

Life

Andrea Geier studied modern German literature, general rhetoric, philosophy and empirical cultural studies at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen . In 2003 she received her doctorate from the University of Tübingen. In 2004 she was a postdoctoral researcher at the graduate school “Identity and Difference. Gender Construction and Interculturality (18th-21st Century) ”at the University of Trier, and from 2004 to 2009 she worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Modern German Literature and Media at the Philipps University of Marburg .

Andrea Geier has been Professor of Modern German Literature and Gender Studies at the University of Trier since 2009. Since 2010 she has been on the board of the Center for Postcolonial and Gender Studies.

Geier has been the 2nd chairwoman of the Marburger Literaturforum eV since July 2005

Andrea Geier writes regularly for newspapers and magazines such as the online magazine Geschichte der Gegenwart or the magazine Republik and can be heard in interviews on public radio.
