Andrea Milz (born April 11, 1963 in Bad Godesberg ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and State Secretary for Sport and Volunteering in the Düsseldorf State Chancellery .

Life

Milz finished school in 1979 with the secondary school leaving certificate and then attended the commercial college for foreign language correspondents. In 1981 she graduated as a foreign language correspondent. From 1981 to 1990 she worked in the CDU federal office, first as a secretary, then as chief secretary. From 1990 to 1995 she worked as a clerk and in the documentation area in the press office at the Federal Ministry of Post and Telecommunications . She then worked until 2000 in the Politics department of Deutsche Post AG , later a consultant and finally acting head of department.

Milz was chairwoman of the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg district association of the German Forest Protection Association from 2003 to 2019 , her successor was Björn Franken , member of the state parliament . In addition, she works as a trainer for rehabilitation sports, Zumba fitness, indoor cycling and hot iron. She is a chess player and played in team competitions in the North Rhine-Westphalian Association League.

Party and local politics

Milz has been a member of the CDU since 1981. From 1985 to 1995 she was press spokeswoman and from 2003 to 2013 chairwoman of the CDU city association in Königswinter . From 1989 to 2004 she was a member of the city council of Königswinter, where she was deputy parliamentary group leader from 1994 to 1999. From 1996 to 2006 she was chairwoman of the local political association in the Rhein-Sieg district of the CDU.

State Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia

Since June 2, 2000, she has been a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia , where she was a full member of the Committee for Economy, Medium-Sized Enterprises and Energy from 2000 to 2010. From 2005 to 2010 she was chairman of the committee for generations, families and integrations, then a full member of the committee for children, youth and family and the integration committee. Milz was always able to win her constituency directly. From 2010 to March 14, 2012 and since July 3, 2012 she was deputy chairwoman of the CDU parliamentary group in North Rhine-Westphalia. On June 29, 2017, she resigned her state parliament mandate because of her government office.

On June 29, 2017, the newly elected Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, Armin Laschet, announced the composition of his new cabinet . He entrusted Andrea Milz with the newly created role of State Secretary for Sport and Volunteering in the North Rhine-Westphalian State Chancellery .
