Andrea Morricone (born October 10, 1964 in Rome , Italy ) is an Italian composer .

biography

Andrea Morricone is the son of the Italian composer Ennio Morricone and brother of the film director and screenwriter Giovanni Morricone . He started his musical career under the guidance of his father. He later studied from 1994 to 1996 under the guidance of Irma Ravinale , Ada Gentile and Iván Vándor at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome . In 1998 he then studied composition again at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia . From 1996 to 1998 he was artistic director of the auditorium of the Istituto Massimiliano Massimo .

As a film composer, he began working alongside his father with the music for Cinema Paradiso . Both received a British Academy Film Award for best film music in 1991 .
