Andrea Polcaro

Andrea Polcaro (born January 9, 1978 in Rome ) is an Italian prehistorian who deals with the Bronze Age of the Ancient Orient , in particular the archeology of Mesopotamia and Jordan .

In 1998 he participated in the Missione Archeologica Italiana in Siria a Tell Mardikh , the ancient Ebla . He received his doctorate from La Sapienza University in Rome in 2003 and won a Dottorato di Ricerca that same year . He teaches at the Dipartimento di Lettere-Lingue, Letterature e Civiltà Antiche e Moderne at the University of Perugia .

Polcaro carried out excavations in Syria and especially in Jordan and Iraq and worked on a project of UNESCO and the Department of Antiquities of Palestine. From 2012 to 2013 he dug in Nigin , Iraq, and in Jebel al-Muṭawwaq in Jordan. In 2015 he and his colleague Davide Nadali published the handbook Archeologia della Mesopotamia antica .
