Andreas Altmann (born June 20, 1963 in Obertrum am See ) is an Austrian economist. He is the founding managing director, professor and rector at the Management Center Innsbruck (MCI), a state-recognized university in Innsbruck organized under private law .

Life

Altmann studied business administration and economics at the Johannes Kepler University Linz and the Leopold Franzens University Innsbruck (PhD 1993) as well as international relations at the Bologna Center of the Johns Hopkins University (Diploma 1993). He began his scientific career in 1989 at the Institute for Public Finance at the University of Innsbruck, from where he moved to the Institute for Corporate Management at the University of Innsbruck in 1993.

After relevant preparatory work, Andreas Altmann was appointed founding managing director of the management association Management Zentrum Tirol in 1994 and was appointed founding managing director of the Management Center Innsbruck in 1997. In 2012 he was appointed rector of the MCI and in 2013 honorary professor at the University of Innsbruck.

Andreas Altmann is married, has two children and lives in Innsbruck .

Awards

Andreas Altmann is winner of the science award of the state capital Innsbruck, member and function holder in several university councils, advisory boards, supervisory boards and academic associations. In 2013 he was awarded the Austrian Decoration for Science and Art of the Republic of Austria.
