Andreas Germershausen

Andreas Germershausen (* 1952 in Berlin ) is a German ethnologist and administrative assistant. From October 2015 to May 2019 he was the "Commissioner of the Berlin Senate for Integration and Migration".

Life

Germershausen studied ethnology at the Free University of Berlin . From 1984 to 1986 he was a member of the board of the Society for Threatened Peoples , Göttingen, and from 1987 to 1997 he was a member of the “Berlin Institute for Comparative Social Research”. From 1997 to 2001 he worked at the “Asian Research Center for Migration” at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok . From 2001 he was an employee of the “Foreigners Commissioner of the Senate of Berlin” (the authority was renamed “the integration commissioner” in 2003). In 2005 he became head of the “Integration Policy” department, and since October 2015 he has been the “Commissioner of the Berlin Senate for Integration and Migration”, while at the same time he headed the Integration Department in the Senate Department for Integration, Labor and Social Affairs .
